My name is Charles. I got my Bachelors’ and Masters’ degrees in English from Binghamton University, where I taught and studied the great literature of my native language. I live in Binghamton, New York, USA with my wife and our cat, and I discovered my love of teaching English as I taught it to learners during my own process of studying Russian. Over the course of five years I have met and taught many wonderful people. I have a broad range of interests and love to converse about many subjects. I love reading and literature. I am also a playwright and have had several of my plays produced locally. I also sometimes act in plays myself. I love good food and good music, and learning about history and the peoples of the world. I’m naturally curious, and I am interested in all kinds of people. I love hearing about my students’ lives as they learn. I’m also a writer for a local arts newspaper and of business articles and publicity. As a writer both of creative work and journalism, I know how to use the English language dynamically, accurately, and in many styles. 

As a teacher, I think it is important to work hard, but also you use humor and to remain friendly. I like to give many examples, to show different ways of saying things, and to use materials from film and music to reinforce lessons. Time, dedication, interest, and repetition are the keys.
