My name is Jean but my friends call me Jeannie. I am originally from Zimbabwe but now I live in Cape Town, South Africa. I am a qualified Hairdresser. I passed the Caucasian hairdressing trade test in June 2018. I do hairdressing as a side line. It is more of a hobby. Hairdressing runs in my family. My mother is a hairdresser and so is my uncle.

My hobbies include traveling, watching television series, hairdressing, dog grooming, I enjoy cooking and experimenting with new recipes. I have traveled and lived overseas before. I lived in the United Kingdom for several years and traveled in Europe.

I started teaching 23 years ago but spent most of my working life in business. My heart brought me back to teaching though, to what I'm passionate about and where I feel I can serve best. I get huge self-fulfillment by watching students learn and learning with them. I use extension to lead my students into an environment where learning can take place.

Within structure, I make classes relaxed, where I lead my students into learning rather than simply giving lectures. I prefer to honestly talk about the topics being taught, using my experience in the actual topic and drawing from the students experience to learn vocabulary in a contextual way and to teach grammar with realistic examples and exercises. On a personal level, I still run a small profitable busines, I have a large family with five children and try and get the most out of life for my family and myself. We love living in Africa where we enjoy it’s hot sun, unspoiled nature and it’s pristine beaches.
