I have 30+ years of work experience including instructing and interactions with a plethora of specific cultural and subcultural groups. I excel at instructing for unique learning styles.

I was born and raised in the state of Pennsylvania, USA, in an area 3 hours away from New York City. I speak and use grammatically correct American English without any regional accent. I have over 12 years of teaching experience which includes 5 years of online ESL instruction, 3 years as an academic teacher in a men’s prison, 2 years as a tutor for immigrant children, and 2 years as a substitute teacher. I still work as a criminal analyst on an as-needed basis. I have also been a fiscal and compliance auditor for private and government sector entities.

My education includes an MBA, a Masters of Education, a Masters of Science in psychology, a Bachelors of Arts in international relations, and a 140-hour TEFL certificate.

I have a wide variety of interests and hobbies. I have many pets; dogs, cats, horses and an indoor pig. I write international political economics articles for a United Nations publication and for many other websites around the world. I authored a children’s book series as well as a novel for adult audiences.

I believe that learning happens easily when it is fun and relevant. I get to know each of my students so I can learn how to best help them achieve their English language goals. Not everyone learns at the same pace and in the same way. I also add cultural context information throughout the lessons because language and culture are interdependent. You can’t learn one without learning the other.

One last parting thought: Don’t ever apologize for your English skills because many people in the world only speak one language.
